Why this CARTER family you might ask? 

Well my maternal Grandmother was a CARTER and I was surrounded by Carter relatives as I grew up. I had done some research on my fathers family the Zanders,  I also became interested in where all the Carters fitted in to the scheme of things, when my mother Melva was working with her cousins on the Schottelius Family history in the late eighties.

 

Again just like the Zander family there are missing bits and pieces, hopefully this site will enable people to fill in some of those holes and complete the story.

Edward. Christiana and the young Thomas  travelled to Australia on the Somersetshire a rigged ship built in 1810.

They were part of the 234 passengers that made their journey on the ship

departing from London on the 20th of April 1839

 and

arriving at Port Adelaide on the 25th of August that same year  1839.
